Privacy Policy

Salah — Prayer Times · Effective 10 August 2026

Short version: Salah does not have accounts, does not require sign-up, and does not sell your data. Prayer times, tracker history, tasbeeh counts, and preferences stay on your device. To keep the app free, app screens display anchored banner ads from Google AdMob. Every banner request asks for non-personalized advertising and Restricted Data Processing. AdMob still processes a limited amount of ad-related information (see section 7). Anonymous crash reports and usage analytics also flow to Google Firebase so we can fix bugs and understand how people use the app.

Who we are

Salah — Prayer Times ("the app") is developed and maintained by Qadeer Ikram. For questions about this policy or your data, email qadeerikram2@gmail.com.

Data we handle

1. Location

The app asks for location permission to calculate accurate prayer times, Qibla direction, and Hijri date for your city. Your coordinates:

You can decline the location permission and enter a city manually instead. You can change or clear your saved location any time from Settings.

2. Prayer, tasbeeh, and Qaza tracking

Every checkbox, counter, and streak stays in local storage on your phone. Nothing about your prayer habits, tasbeeh sessions, or Qaza record is sent off your device. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

3. Downloaded content

Hadith collections and azan audio files are fetched from public content delivery networks (Internet Archive, jsDelivr) when you tap Download. These downloads are anonymous HTTP requests; no account or identifier is attached. The downloaded content is cached in the app's private storage on your device.

4. Notifications

Prayer reminders are scheduled locally on your phone using Android's alarm system. The app has no server that pushes notifications to you. If you disable notification permission, prayer reminders won't fire but the rest of the app works normally.

5. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, an anonymous report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics containing:

These reports help us find and fix bugs. They do not contain your name, email, location, prayer history, or any personal content. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Firebase Privacy Policy.

6. Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)

The app records anonymous usage events so we can understand which features are used and improve the experience. This includes:

We do not log your prayer history, tasbeeh counts, city, coordinates, or any content you view inside the app. Analytics data is processed by Google Firebase under their privacy terms.

7. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is free of charge. To keep it that way, we display anchored banner ads from Google AdMob throughout app screens, including onboarding.

To deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect:

Every banner request asks Google for non-personalised advertising and enables Restricted Data Processing. Ads are contextual rather than based on your past behaviour. Google and eligible ad partners may still process limited device, network, measurement, and fraud-prevention information to provide advertising under Google's advertising policies and the Google Privacy Policy.

Content filtering. Ad requests use Google's most conservative G-rated content setting. Publisher-level category controls are managed separately in the AdMob console. If you see an ad you feel does not belong here, please screenshot it and email us so we can investigate.

Your advertising privacy. The app does not request personalised ads. Where European rules require consent for device storage or access, Google's User Messaging Platform displays a consent form before ads are requested. Required users can review or change their choice later from Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

What we do NOT do

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the app has no accounts and no user-generated content, there is no mechanism by which a child could share personal information with us.
